We listened to a sermon by Pastor David Murray while up north based on Amos 4:12b "Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!" Hope you benefit from the notes I took:
HOW TO PREPARE TO MEET YOUR GOD:
1. Read and apply His Word daily
2. Run away from whatever might hinder your preparation - anyone or anything that is distracting you
3. Repent - go through the law of God personally - break with sins, habits and sinful pleasures
4. Request meetings with God before that great judgement meeting - do this through prayer
5. Rehearse (practice) - prepare for the God who will ask the right questions, who will get to the heart of the matter - not what church you belonged to or if you were baptized... BUT:
- do you love Jesus Christ?
- are you born again?
- what is your evidence/proof of that love?
HOW NOT TO PREPARE TO MEET GOD:
1. Deny Him, ignore that your judgement meeting with God will happen
2. Delay preparation - wait until it's too late. Written all over Satan's calendar is TOMORROW, written all over God's calendar is TODAY is the day of salvation
3. Dare to think you can win God over with your arguments and excuses
4. Despair that there is no hope for you
5. Disdain (arrogance) - the attitude that you don't need to prepare

i never got to hear the sermon but i appreciate your notes, bub. i had a dream about you last night and i was lecturing you and you would have none of it. horrid huh? anyway, hope you are doing well..
