Seasonal Memories

~ You take a deep breath and the cold air makes you gasp. Your nose and ears burn from the cold. The smell of smoke from a woodstove drifts through the air... Aah, it's winter. There is snow on the ground and the pond is frozen. You bundle up and spend the afternoon playing in the snow, tobogganing and skating. As the sun begins to sink, you head back inside where hot chocolate and a warm fireplace waits for you. It's a delicious feeling.

~ The cold gray days of winter are finally over. You step outside one morning - the sun is shining and a warm wind blows your hair around your face. You suddenly feel your spirits lift for no explicable reason and you feel the urge to dance around the yard, discovering signs of new growth. Visions of picnics, gardening and lazy summer afternoons fill your mind. It's a delicious feeling.

~ It's June. There are only a few more days left of school. The classroom is warm - the fan whirs lazily overhead, and a fly buzzes around you, landing on your hand. A barely discernible breeze filters in from the open window next to you, and you can hear the steady drone of an airplane. You rest your head on your hand and your mind begins to wander... It's a delicious feeling.

~ It's a warm summer night. You are lying in bed with your window open, the steady pattering of rain against the window interrupted by intermittent rumbles of thunder. The storm gets closer and flashes of lightning light up your room. You drift off to sleep... It's a delicious feeling.

~ It's a typical fall day. The air is crisp but the sun is shining and you don't need a jacket yet. Leaves crunch underfoot as you walk to class, your schoolbag heavy on your back. Students are milling around, sitting on park benches, playing frisbee in the grass. You feel the urge to skip class and enjoy the beautiful weather. It's a delicious feeling.
