Tuesday's Tip #4

Want to know a handy tip to make the life of your mattress stretch for years? Just flip it! My mom does it twice a year, in January and July. On New Year's Day flip your mattress upside down from head to foot. Then on July 4 (for Americans) or July 1 (for Canadians) flip your mattress upside down from side to side. This will ensure that you are sleeping on every possible side and keep it from wearing out so fast.

*this penny stretching tip will not work with a pillow top mattress... so avoid at all cost!

Well I have some news for you. Whether or not your mattress is pillow top, new mattresses are not made to flip anymore. There is one good side. The other side is not soft, and tufted. You can of course flip the head side to the feet.

You are right, Lora, that most mattresses you can't flip. The new one that we bought three years ago, however, came with the months even printed on the mattress, telling when and which way to flip it every three months. So I think that with some searching, you can still buy mattresses that you can flip. :)
